James Kovacs

James (Jim) Kovacs of South Amboy, New Jersey formally of Woodbridge, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 11, 2019 in his home; he was 75.   Jim graduated from Perth Amboy and was a Boy Scout and was in the United States Navy.

Jim loved animals, especially dogs, he’d often carry dog biscuits on him just to give the neighborhood pups a special treat!  Jim absolutely loved going to the Renaissance Fair each year.  He was a lifetime member of the NRA, and an avid poker player, often getting together with friends for a game or two at the local pub.  He was extremely proud of his heritage and loved to tell stories.  He loved spending time with friends in his community, whether going on day trips or playing BINGO in the community room of his apartment complex.   He was truly a knowledgeable man of all things, loving trivia and history.   Most of all he was a loving, caring, and gentle person known for his personality and character.  He loved his grandchildren and always had a joke to tell.  Family man and Friend, James was a spectacular person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

James is predeceased by his parents, James and Marie Novak Kovacs, and a sister Delores Grzankowski.  He is survived by two sons, James Kovacs and his wife Carletta of Tuscon, Arizona and their children Angela and Alyssa Kovacs; Steven Kovacs of Neptune, New Jersey and his daughter Mia Kovacs; and his daughter, Tara Kovacs Stewart and her husband Ron of Willingboro, New Jersey, and their children, Ronnie, Donovan and Julia Stewart.  Jim also became a great grandfather to Percival James on July 12, 2019.  James has two nieces as well, Theresa Berg and Carol Scelfo.  Jim leaves behind many friends in his local community.
