Russell "Pop-Pop" Freeman, 82, of Edison passed away peacefully Feb. 9, 2017 at Cranbury Center, Monroe Township, with his dear wife and loving family by his side.    Born and raised in Scranton, PA, he settled in Edison, NJ.

Prior to his retirement, Russell worked on the assembly line at General Motors, Linden.  A veteran of The United States Marine Corps, Russell was a devoted family man who displayed lifelong relentless and exuberant love to his dear and devoted wife, Margie.  Russ and Margie were inseparable from the moment they met.

A passionate golfer, Russ spent many awesome days on the greens with clubs in hand, ready for tee off time.  He was especially fond of watching others golf, so much so that he would travel distances to observe their game on the course.

Russell leaves behind his dear wife, Margie, loving sons, Michael and his wife, Grace Ann of Pennsylvania, Russell and his wife, Susan of Spotswood, and Joseph and his partner, Nancy Steinmacher of Keyport, his grandchildren, Jared, Paul, Vincent, Christina, Jeff, Matthew and his wife, Julia, Brian, Allen and his wife, Alex, great grandson, Damian, and many dear lifelong friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to visitation Sunday, Feb. 12 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Guardian Trade Service, LLC., 241 Bordentown Ave., South Amboy.  A funeral mass will be said Monday, Feb. 13 at 9 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, 32 Elm Ave., Metuchen.  Cremation will be private.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Russ' memory may be made to the charity of choice.
